Explanation
The Quit India Movement was launched in August 1942 in response to the failure of the Cripps Proposals (1942). Sir Stafford Cripps had come to India to negotiate a settlement but the proposals were rejected by both the Congress and the Muslim League. Frustrated with the deadlock and British refusal to grant immediate independence, the Congress launched the Quit India (Bharat Chhodo) Movement, demanding immediate British withdrawal from India. The Cabinet Mission Plan came later (1946), as did the Wavell Plan (1945). The Simon Commission was much earlier (1927). > Timeline: Cripps (1942) → Quit India (1942) → Cabinet Mission (1946). Answer: b.
