c

Both 1 and 2

d

Neither 1 nor 2

Answer

Explanation

Statement 1 is incorrect: The Vice President of India serves as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and is considered a member of that House. The Deputy Chairman is elected FROM the Rajya Sabha members and ceases to be so if they cease to be a member. Both hold membership status. Statement 2 is incorrect: Nominated members cannot vote in EITHER the presidential or vice-presidential election. Only elected members of Parliament and elected members of State legislatures have voting rights in presidential and vice-presidential elections respectively. Nominated members are excluded from both electoral processes. > Rajya Sabha Chairman = Vice President (IS a member); Nominated members = NO vote in President OR VP election. Answer: (d).
