NITI Aayog Replaces Planning Commission

NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) was established by the Modi Government in 2015 as a replacement for the Planning Commission, which had existed since 1950. NITI Aayog was designed to be a think-tank and policy advisory body with greater flexibility and focus on development, rather than the centralized planning approach of the Planning Commission.
