Gulf Cooperation Council Membership

Iran is NOT a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The GCC was established in 1981 and its members are: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. Iran, despite being a Persian Gulf nation, is not a member of the GCC. The organization was essentially created as a counterbalance to Iranian influence in the region during the Iran-Iraq War period. Option (b) Saudi Arabia is a founding member, option (c) Oman is a member, and option (d) Kuwait is a founding member.
