Answer
c

Only three

d

All the four

Explanation

Pairs I and IV are correctly matched.

Asmaka was the only Mahajanapada in South India, situated on the banks of the Godavari. Kosala was located along the Sarayu river. However, Kamboja was in the extreme northwest (Hindu Kush), far from Vipas (Beas), and Avanti was in central India (Ujjain/Narmada region), far from the eastern Mahanadi.

Mapping the 16 Mahajanapadas to their primary river systems is a recurring historical geography pattern.

Answer: (b).
